Culture in Sports is a learning organization.  Our goal is to learn everything possible, whether it is about culture, leadership, or anything else that can help athletes, coaches, support staff, teams, and organizations.  Being a learning organization is the cornerstone of anything that we are trying to do.

Is your organization one that you would consider as being associated with learning?  Is your organization or team focused on sharing knowledge and information, solving problems, and helping others?  Is lifelong learning a priority at your organization?  Does your organization have a shared vision and wants forward thinking, leadership, and a culture of learning?

If your organization does not, it is okay.  You can start changing the organization from within, starting with yourself and others within your sphere of influence.  As a coach, athlete feedback is extraordinarily important in practice and game settings.  An athlete sees something important about a defense another team is running and how to penetrate it.  Or maybe an athlete expresses that she is being overtrained mentally and physically.  Coaches gather this information and continuously adjust their training methods, tactics, and support of their athletes and teams.

Learning is incredibly important for every role player on a team.  Learning is what makes us better as individual contributors to the team and organization and sharing what we learn strengthens others.  Learning and the sharing of knowledge are what makes our teams stronger, more competitive, and mentally, physically, and emotionally prepared.
