Nine seasons, three Super Bowls, three rings. Rob Gronkowski was an exhilarating player and a lively character on the field, bringing pride to all Patriots fans. He wants to show how once a Patriot, always a Patriot.
Gronk signed a one-day contract with the Patriots on November 12, 2025. He decided he wanted to officially retire from the team he felt at home with. According to the NFL, he said, “[He’s] a Patriot for life. My career started here, and 100% needs to end here.” While being a Patriot, he has set many records. NBC Sports Boston claims that Gronk set a franchise record with 79 receiving touchdowns as a Patriot, the most games with multiple touchdowns (26), the most 100-yard receiving games, and the highest receiving yards per game average for a tight end. These records display his extraordinary athleticism and determination on the field as a Patriot.
As well as being a star player, Gronkowski is a star friend. The NFL writes that, at the opening of a playground named after him, his friend Susan Hurley was the one who requested that he retire as a Patriot. She was a Patriots cheerleader and also founded her own company, CharityTeams. This organization helped her reach out to other charities in her area so she could support. She sadly passed away from cancer this month, so as a way to honor her, he declared that he would follow up on her request.
His personality and charisma enlightened all the watchers from the stands and viewers at home. He created an atmosphere that was enchanting, inspiring plays that almost felt too good to be true. And most importantly, a legacy that will be remembered and carried through the hall of fame and generations to come.
