A little over a month ago, I wrote about how an athlete’s innocence was taken away from her at 13 years old and how US Figure Skating Association‘s Hall of Fame member John Zimmerman and Silvia Fontana, a multi Olympian from Italy, shamed and threatened the girl to not report the incident because another athlete was preparing for the #Olympics.

Well, Morgan Cipres, the French Olympic skater who sent two lewd photos of his genitalia to a 13-year-old American female figure skater in 2017 is finally facing a felony charge by the Florida State Attorney General and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

While this step does not make up for taking the innocence away from a child, that nobody stepped in to stop Cipres, or that the child was shamed and threatened to stay quiet, the justice process is at least continuing its course.

There needs to be a better way to protect athletes. Let’s hope that the justice process continues and the child eventually gets closure and the mental and emotional support that she needs. You can read the article here:
