Football is a game that continues to move through generation to generation and it’s important that football can keep its core values especially in the UK where football is one of the most popular sports played. Grassroots football is not just the heart and soul of the English football system but also its seen as the core where football starts for all professional players. This is because before all players are scouted by academies or join up with academies, they play grassroots football, and this is when a player plays for their local club or team in that area.  The backbone of the game stands through the support of local football fans, volunteers, parents of players, sponsors, and the players themselves. This is why grassroots football is so integral in sports and apart of the British culture as many who play grassroots play due to there love of the game.

Grassroots football has been the beginning for many of the top players currently in the premier league and they have all worked there way up this system to then reach the pinnacle of the sport. This is why its important grassroots football continues to receive investment from the FA (Football association) as its apart of footballing culture here and is an integral part of England, Wales and Scotland producing some of the top players in world football. The football association funds up to 60m per year into grass roots football and this is important this continues to happen as with funding like this it can allow grassroots players to progress to the next level and also keep the English football heritage and culture.

However, although grassroots football is known by many there have been many strategies to increase the engagement and exposure on a worldwide scale. The footballs governing body FIFA has also looked at initiatives to support the grassroots campaign and make sure as many people possible are informed about this and know about football history. One way Grassroots football has tried to increase their exposure is taking the initiative and introduced festivals to enable players and fans interact which is a great way to give grassroots the exposure it deserves. Coaches are now also being trained to teach the players on the basics of the game. FIFA Fair Play regulations have been introduced to guard the originality and viability of the game.
