Sir Alex Ferguson is one of the most well-known football managers in the world but in particular in the UK and within Premier League football. This is due to his success as manager of Manchester United for 26 years between 1986 – 2013. In his time at Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson won 13 Premier Leagues, 5 FA Cups, 4 English League Cups and 2 Champions Leagues making him one of the most successful coaches in world football.

He is still the most successful manager in English football, and this is due to some of the traits that he showed throughout his career. He was confident in himself which resulted in him being trusted and followed by the players that he coached. He was also a great leader due to his communication skills which allowed him to get his messages across to his players to get them to do exactly what he was wanting them to do and helped him to get the most out of the players he had.

Sir Alex also had very high standards which always pushed his players to their limits which is why he was so successful as a coach because he got everything he possibly could from his team and always had the drive to be the best. Another trait that made him a good coach as his ability to keep his players motivated every year to go again to try and win trophies because sometimes coaches find it hard to keep their players motivated once they have won something the year before but Ferguson managed to do it every year and by keeping his players a little bit in fear of him because it meant that they would respect him and listen to what he was saying which is important for a leader that those following do those things.

Sir Alex Ferguson showed honesty and integrity throughout his career to his players and coaching staff which once again earned him respect from those around him as he made his players feel valued and wanted which meant they would go out onto the pitch and want to perform for him.

Overall, Sir Alex Ferguson will always go down as one of the greatest managers and leaders to grace the English game and will always be someone that future coaches will look up to and take lessons from.
