One of the most talked-about names in golf recently has been somebody that most have not heard of, his name is Lee Westwood. Westwood is a 47-year-old Professional Golfer who has been in contention to win two of the last PGA events; the Arnold Palmer Classic and the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass. Although Westwood’s stellar performance has had fans talking about him, there is something else that has the media’s eyes on him.

Almost all male PGA Golfers have male caddies helping them navigate their way around the course in a tournament; they bring insight on club selection, wind direction, and pin locations. Westwood does things a bit differently and it has fans talking; he decided to bring his fiancee, Helen Storey, on tour with him as his caddie. Their journey competing late in 2018 and their journey has continued ever since.

Not only is she the only female out helping a player on the course, but Westwood credits her for a lot of his success, claiming “at the point in my career there is not a whole lot a caddie can do. She gets me in a fantastic mood and psychologically she can help me and say the things that I need to hear, ” Westwood stated in an interview with Golf.com.

Westwood is a player that holds himself accountable for his mistakes as well as his success in his game. While some players may look to blame conditions, club selections, and in some cases their caddies. Helen does an incredible job of keeping Westwood calm, encouraging him when needed, and giving him his space when it’s appropriate. The two have a blast out on the course and are shown laughing and smiling throughout the entire tournament.

Bryson DeChambeau, who went head-to-head with Westwood the last two weekends fighting for the first place spot, commented on the way she compliments his game and keeps him focused on all of the right things. DeChambeau called her “his secret weapon.” Although she might not know that much about golf, she knows how his mind works and helps him in his mental aspect which can be more important than helping with wind direction and reading greens.

Not only does Lee Westwood get to enjoy a round of golf with his caddie, but he also has the opportunity to share his playing experiences with his fiancee, which is something very special. Helen has joined Westwood in many impressive events, including the Masters, the Open Championship golf tournament at Royal Portrush Golf Club, Nedbank Golf Challenge, The Arnold Palmer Classic, and the Players Championship.

Helen Storey has become one of the most talked-about caddies on tour in 2021. With two- back-to-back second-place finishes, is it unclear what these two will accomplish next but fans all over the world are keeping a close eye on this dynamic duo. Will this trend continue? Is this the start of something new? We shall see…
