1.    Do the things that make you happy.

When I say to do the things that make you happy I do not mean pick up 4 bottles of wine on your way home from work and finish them all. Although wine may make you happy, go deeper than that. Find the little things that make you happiest, maybe a hot bath at the end of the day, a walk around the block, a cup of tea. Start making it a point to do the things that make YOU happy every day.

2.    Surround yourself with people that bring you up.

Do you find yourself around people that are constantly complaining and talking about negative things? We all are faced with Debbie Downers every day of our lives. If these are the people you find yourself with constantly, reevaluate whom you are spending your lunch or breaks with.

3.    Find a daily habit.

Find something that makes you feel good about yourself, something you excel at and it makes you feel good about yourself. In life it is very important we do things that we love and that we are good at. This helps boost our self-esteem and allows us to take more risks and try new things.

4.    Listen to inspirational speakers whenever you’re in the car or on a walk.

Instead of listening to negative drama or radio talk, put on some peaceful inspiring music or maybe even an inspirational speaker. These things will help fill your brain with positivity and give you new outlooks on life.

5.    Exercise- it releases endorphins.

Although you may feel too tired to exercise 4-5 times a week, this is a life-changing skill. Exercise is one of the best things for you. When you exercise your body releases endorphins, these interact with your receptors in your brain and help trigger positive feelings as well as reduce the perception of pain.

6.    Think positively! Whenever negative thoughts come your, way push them away.

Whenever you feel negative thoughts creeping into your brain, push them out! Do not let them take over your brain. Replace the negative thoughts with positive ones.

7.    Pat yourself on the back.

Oftentimes we do not give ourselves enough credit. We do not take the time to celebrate our small daily accomplishments, we get so caught up on big accomplishments and sometimes even get upset if we do not feel we are achieving them on the right time table. Make yourself your biggest cheerleader! YOU ARE GREAT!

8.    Embrace who you are.

Do not try to be anybody else, just be you. We live in a world that it feels as if there is a certain cultural norm, everybody tries living up to it and striving to be the same? Do not feel pressure to be anybody but yourself. The people that are meant to be in your life will love you for you! Not for the person you try to be.
